About The Horizon Villa

Kangra Fort & Norbulingka Institute

After breakfast at The Horizon Villa, we start our day by taking you to The Norbulingka Institute, which is dedicated towards the preservation of Tibetan culture in both literary and artistic forms.

We then take you to be in the largest fort in Himalayas and said to be the oldest dated fort in India – the fort of the rulers of Kangra, which is situated on a strategic height on a windswept ridge overlooking the confluence of The Baner and The Majhi rivers.

Traveling as a part of a small group, the Kangra valley will become just a history or an art lesson. It will be a place where people lived for centuries…! There are other surprises too…!

This trip includes transport, refreshments, a stopover for lunch and evening tea upon return to The Horizon Villa.

After breakfast at The Horizon Villa, we start our day by taking you to The Norbulingka Institute, which is dedicated towards the preservation of Tibetan culture in both literary and artistic forms.

We then drive you alongside the majestic Dhauladhar Mountains through scenic mountain roads and sparkling streams. As you drive though the Palampur town, you shall witness breath-takingly beautiful manicured tea gardens for which the Kangra Valley is famed. You may even get a chance to pick your personal pack of Kangra tea.

A sojourn at the ancient rock cut temples at Baijnath will be like a spiritually enhancing experience to carry along.

Rock Cut Temples at Masrur and Norbulingka Institute

After breakfast at The Horizon Villa, we take you along the scenic, winding mountain roads to see the beautiful richly carved monolithic rock cut Masroor temples located on a hillock that resides above a well-watered and fertile tract of considerable natural beauty – they are framed by the white mountains. Spend time viewing the ancient ruins of these rock temples as you absorb their breath-taking elegance and beauty.

Upon return form the Masrur Temples, after a stopover for lunch at Kangra, we take you to The Norbulingka Institute, which is dedicated towards the preservation of Tibetan culture in both literary and artistic forms.

The trip includes transport, refreshments and evening tea upon arrival back to The Horizon Villa.
